Object Description
White, cotton, hand-embroidered, nightgown. The cotton fabric is machine-made. The embroidery on the neckline is hand-done. The embroidery is off-white with fan shapes, and a butterfly design in the center. There is a crochet on the sleeves and at the neck.
Origin
Donated by Mae Counelis. The nightgown belonged to and was worn by Koula (Lazos) Counelis, Mae's mother. The nightgown was part of her dowry, circa 1900-1930.
