Object Description
Large square sham with ruffle and diagonal designs in cutwork, along with tatting with three buttons on each side to close, except along one edge where it is folded. The diagonal designs alternate between two forms, one that looks like a helix with flowers in the middle, and the other that is made of diamonds with cutwork circles around them. In the middle, another design is introduced, which consists of two ovals together with squared with diamonds in the middle on either side. The back side is completely plain.
Origin
Koula Counelis came to America to marry, Antonio Counelis (Tony). They are the parents of the donor. This was in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Her maiden name is Lazou and she was born in Karistos, Eubea, Greece. She spent her early married life in Chicago Heights, then moved to Berwyn, IL, and spent 44 years there and died at the age of 96.
