Object Description
A hand-crocheted doily. The doily is 6" linen circle with a 6" tatted edge in a diamond sunburst design.
Origin
Tatting is using a series of knots and loops to make the fabric more durable. It was made to imitate point lace. This belonged to the donor's mother Koula (Lazou) Counelis who came to America to marry the donor's father, Antonio Counelis in Chicago Heights, IL. She was born in Karistos, Eubea, Greece. After Chicago Heights, her and her husband moved to Berwyn, IL, where she lived for 44 years and died at the age of 96.
