Object Description
A black and white photograph of a young man and a young woman. The young man is standing on the left, he is wearing a grey suit, white shirt, and checker-patterned tie. The young woman is wearing a mid-calf length dress, which has an embroidered floral print on the sleeves, at the bottom, and at the middle. There is a stash around the middle. She has a large black bow in her hair. She is wearing white stockings and white shoes. She is also wearing a metal cross necklace.

Mae H. Counelis,of Berwyn, IL, was born Feb. 10, 1931 to the late Koula and Anthony Counelis. She was raised in Chicago Heights, IL, and graduated from Bloom High School. Mae received a bachelor of science degree from George Washington University, Washington, DC. She worked in the research department of the U of I, Chicago. Later, she worked in cancer research at Schering Corp. in NJ where she developed a patent for helping to cure cervical cancer.
