Object Description
A program on paper with a plastic cover and black coiled binding on the side. On the plastic cover is an image of St. Demetrios and St. George. The saint on the left is holding a sword and shield. The saint on the right is carrying a long spear and a sword and shield. They are dressed in red and black armor and have halos around their heads. The inside pages include pictures of the priests, letters from the pastors, photos of the choirs, and ads for various businesses.
Origin
Program for The Federation of Greek Orthodox Church Choirs Chicago Diocese 39th Annual Conference. The event took place from October 11-13, 1996, and was co-hosted by the choirs of St. Demetrios Church of Hammond, Indiana, and St. George Church Schererville, Indiana.
Saint Demetrius of Thessaloniki is a Christian martyr of the early 4th century AD. During the Middle Ages, he came to be revered as one of the most important Orthodox military saints, often paired with Saint George.
