Object Description
Nail buffer attached to narrow celluloid box with small handle. The box containing the nail buffer is a transparent orange color and the lid is a pearly, marble-like peach color. The handle is mostly a matte orange with one side the same pearly peach as the rest of the lid. The tips of the lid curve into a shield shape. The nail buffer has disintegrated in the box.
Origin
With the advent of inexpensive plastics in the 1930s, vanity items like these became more readily available. This nail buffer is very likely part of a set also conatining a powder box and a mirror. It likely would have been displayed on a woman's dresser with other assorted vanity items.
