Object Description
Small, shield-shaped powder box and lid. Box is made of celluloid and is pearly peach colored on the exterior and a matte orange on the interior. Lid has small handle and sides of box have two thin horizontal stripes that run around the circumference of the box. The bottom of the box is orange and transparent.
Origin
A small powder box such as this one were used for powders for the face, or talcs for the body. There would have been a fluffy powder puff inside. With the advent of inexpensive plastics in the 1930s, vanity items like these became more readily available.
