Object Description
Scalloped edge on ecru colored doily. Center of doily done in pineapple pattern. The outside edge of the doily is made in a grid-like pattern, where the scalloped edges come together on an inner edge of the doily. In between where these edges come together, there are triangles made of a thicker grid-like pattern. Inside of this pattern is the pineapple patter, centered around a central circle.
Origin
The doilies were handmade by relatives of the donor who lived on the island of Kos, Greece. Doilies are used for decoration or to protect furniture. They are characterized by their openwork, which allows the surface below them to show through.
