Object Description
Fine tatting, round. There are circles sticking out at certain points from the round edge, which is also composed of circle. the circles have flowerlike shapes in the middle. Inside of the outer edge of circles, there are two rows of teardrop shaped tatting, followed by many different decorative rows in a crisscross design. this is followed by a layer of lines, inside of which there is another layer of diagonal lines, followed by teardrop shaped. In the middle, there is a four petaled flower with a hole in the middle.
Origin
The doilies were handmade by relatives of the donor who lived on the island of Kos, Greece. Doilies are used for decoration or to protect furniture. They are characterized by their openwork, which allows the surface below them to show through.
