Object Description
This is a 14 inch chef's knife with a reddish-brown wooden handle.

The handle is a dark mahogany-colored wood with a slightly notched butt end for more secure gripping.  Three metal rivets hold the tang in place.

This knife has very sleek lines, with the spine on the blade forming an unbroken line from the handle as if it were made in one piece.  The blade itself has a well-defined bevel and a hard curve at the end, where it comes to a point.

This knife has the patina of an aged and often-used kitchen utensil showing signs of discoloration and staining on the blade.  Also, sometimes yellow / rusty colored water leaks from the handle where it meets the blade.
Origin
Donated by Mary G. Gatsis. Knives from a restaurant owned by her father, George J. Gatsis.
