Object Description
30 x 72" handwoven wool runner in red and cream geometric design. Has yellow stain in middle, on edge, and small spots of yellow discoloration. The design consists of an X, with ovals protruding from each of the 90 degree angles. These ovals have another oval inside them. The outer ovals and the corners of the X form a square with the next pattern. In the center of this square, there is another square, which is connected to the corners of the X's by two smaller squares. All of the designs are done in red, while the background is cream colored.
Origin
This runner was a gift to Ariadne and her mother in 1964. It was created in the 1950's by people who were in their 30's. A table runner is a narrow strip of cloth laid down a table for decoration.
