Object Description
Handwoven wool bedspread. Background color is a very vibrant red. The pattern is a hexagonal pattern in black wool that goes around in a square. The pattern is very large and inside the hexagons are three squares and a line. Around three of the sides of the bedspread there is a red crocheted trim.
Origin
Handmade by Anastasia Ploumi in central Crete in Garazo. Gifts to Ariadne Beck and her mother in 1964.

Garazo is a Village in Kouloukona in Rethymno in the Crete Region of Greece. Garazo is also a Listed traditional settlement, a Town hall and a Municipal district. Garazo is at an altitude of 262 meters. In 1991, Garazo's population was 495, down from 676 in 1981.
