Object Description
Wedding-Rice favor.  A few ounces of rice tied up in white netting with a white lace ribbon.  The rice sits bundled at the bottom topped by a tightly-tied white lace ribbon.  The remaining netting poofs out festively at the top in pointed peaks.
Origin
Item from the wedding of George and Ourania Gatsis on October 10,1922.

This is a bundle of wedding rice which would have been thrown at a GReek orthodox wedding. The rice, in Greece, symbolizes roots, and that the man and woman should put down roots together in life.
