Object Description
GLASS ICE CREAM SUNDAY DISH. RESEMBLES A LOTIS FLOWER ON TOP. Dish is atop a glass stem and base.
Origin
Ice cream and it's various forms (gelato, frozen custard, frozen yogurt, sorbet) has been among the favorite desserts of American and Greek culture. Ice cream is said to be invented in the Persian empire around 400BC when snow, saved in a yakhchal to be kept cool until summer, would be flavored and served. This recipe evolved throughout the ages, being created with different means and ingrediants. During special gatherings such serving bowls as these may be used to serve ice cream.
