Object Description
Women's bolero-style jacket made from burgundy velvet with gold, embroidered brocade trim along inner neck line continuing to bottom edge, also on ends of sleeves and along the top portion of the sleeves. Gold embroidery on front near claps, and all along the back of the dress, in spiral scroll patterns, and fleur-de-lis like designs. Jacket is hemmed and fully lined with a beige/peach colored fabric. Neckline is very long and oval shaped, and opens all the way down to just above the waist-line, and just below it are three metal clasps that close the jacket. Jacket has flared, tapered sleeves. Jacket is quite small
Origin
Manufactured in Greece. A wedding gift from Helen Kilauos Spiro to her daughter-in-law Mary K. Spiro, wife of Michael d. Spiro (Helen's son).
