Object Description
Multicolored (red, yellow, green, fuchsia and blue) handwoven wool bag (tagari) with braided strap. The body and background of the bag is a deep red woven wool.  One side is geometric patterns while the other (not pictured) is stripped.  On the geometric side, a bold, yellow chain of triangles creates a striking frame of color along the right and left edges.  Simple bands of yellow decorated with a chain of green triangles emphasize the top and bottom borders of the purse.  In the center is a fuchsia hour-glass graphic flanked by a green sig-zag on each side.
Origin
A tagari bag is a cloth square-shaped bag with long string strap. They originated in Greece and surrounding European countries in villages during the 1940's to the 1950's. They were once worn practically but are now worn for fashion.
