Object Description
Beige table runner. Embroidered on each side with three large flowers all identical with the colors red, pink, gold, and brown (in order from the center to the outside). they are linked by gold leaves. Smaller red four-petaled flowers frame each side of the center flower slightly below the other two flowers. Crewel technique. There is a tan border around the entire work. It has two thin lines spaced apart, which intersect the other lines in the corner. Close to the outside line, there are another two lines bordering tan rectangles.
Origin
Crewel work is a type of embroidery that doesn't include counting stitches. It is traditionally done on a firm fabric to support the weight of the thread. Traditional designs include flowers with fines or animals, known as Jacobean embroidery.
