Object Description
A coarse knit napkin of cream with a border of embroidered light gold. In one of the napkins there is a flower, embroidered in metallic red, pink, and burnt umber thread. The flower has black stamen with gold spots.
Origin
Donated by Helen Costas. These napkins are from Chania, Crete. Chania is the second biggest Cretan city. It lies along the west coast of the island. The history of the city dates back to the Neolithic era. Today, Chania is a somewhat popular tourist destination and is very successful off of its olive oil exportation.
