Object Description
Photo of a funeral. In the middle, there is an open coffin propped on two chairs. The coffin is surrounded by people looking at it. Behind the coffin, there are women wearing black veils sitting down. Behind these women, there are men with beards and black hats, who appear to be religious officials. There is a cross in the background. There are men in suits and women in dresses, all looking at the coffin. On the left side, there are a few children looking at the camera. It is mounted on a brown board that has the top corners torn. There is writing on the back in Greek. It appears to be outside.
Origin
This is a photograph of the funeral of Costas Dasaky, age 77. He was the owner of a coffee shop (Kafenion) in the town of Gargaliani, Messinias. He is surrounded by family and friends. Costas Dasaky's sons John and James were living in Chicago with their families.
