The document is white with a grey border and green lines on the inside of the certificate. In the left corner, there is a golden seal that says "Workers Committee Official Seal 82 W Washington St. Chicago Illinois." At the top of the document, there is a black and white picture of an eagle with an olive branch. In the background, the sun is rising. On the right side, there is a town. Below the eagle, it reads "Worker's Committee, Room 414, 82 W. Washington St., Chicago." Below which it says "Socrates No. 7" and below that: "The above mentioned Local is entitled to all rights and privileges of the Workers' Committee, as long as said Local abides by the Constitution and By-Laws of the Workers' Committee" It is signed in blue ink by the executive secretary (Charles Moore). The back is white with a green border and a design on one side. It says "Certificate for No. 7. Charles Fotopoulos, Organizer. Issued to Socrates Local No. 7 Dated August 1st, 1934." In the 1930's, workers started organizing into unions. The Workers' Committee appears to be one of these unions. Since this was found with an award for Socrates Greek-American School, it could be assumed that this membership was for the school.
