Object Description
Shallow pear shaped bowl, where the top of the pear would be is a spout. Silver with a few spots of green. There are two studs on the back, which fastens a blank oval shaped piece of metal to the outside. The bottom is dented slightly. This corresponds with a candy scale, in which it would sit on the scale in order to weigh the candy. It was made by the Toledo Scale Company. The corresponding scale was said to be used in the early 1900s.
Origin
This is the bowl to a candy scale manufactured by the Toledo Scale Company in the early 1900s.
Allen Divibiss. Jr. invented self-calculating scales, and was from Toledo, Ohio. Toledo Scale Company used scales that didn't have springs in them, and advertised that they provided the honest weight of goods, therefore eliminating the possibility of the seller cheating the buyer.
