Object Description
Oil painting depicts a priest riding a donkey down a street surrounded by white buildings. The painting is highly textured. The painting is framed in a decorative wooden frame and painted gold. The matting is an off-white fabric. There is an metal wire hanger attached to the back of the frame. Dimensions: 28.125 x 23.750 x 2.750.
Origin
Manos was born in Athens, Greece, in 1927. He died May 11, 1998 at his home in London, Ontario, Canada. He painted Greek seascapes, landscapes, and Greek people. He also painted scenes from Paris, France. Manos attended the Grande Chaumiere Art School in Paris. His work is heavily influenced by his teacher Alfred Dufatrel, an impressionist painter. He exhibited his work throughout Western Europe, Canada, and the United States.
