White, cotton, hand-embroidered, nightgown. The cotton fabric is machine-made. The embroidery on the neckline is hand-done. The embroidery is off-white with fan shapes, and a butterfly design in the center. There is a crochet on the sleeves and at the neck.

Runner, Table (2004.5.10)

Table runner with multicolor embroidery on a beige background. This runner has a long rectangular shape with its base color being beige. The color of the embroidery includes purple, pink, red, green, white, and navy. On either edge are identical designs. There is a zig-zagging branch, made of gold beading, and branching off of this are various leaves in those multiple colors listed above. Throughout the textile, there are navy colored stripes running vertically. Along the edges are pink, white, and navy tassels. The edges are beginning to fray. There are some rust-colored stains near one of the corners.

Doily (2004.5.18)

Square, off-white doily. Crocheted lace. There is a central circle, and the design branches off from there with leaf-like shapes radiating from the center. Thin and delicate cotton thread. On either side, there is some discoloration and staining.

Picture, Woven (2004.5.28)

Framed embroidery, gold rectangular frame, floral design embroidered with gold thread. The embroidery appears to be on a thin beige cloth. Some of the embroidery is done with silvery pieces of metal, such as the steps, the leaves, and the outlines of the flowers. There is also a design in the metal pieces along the bottom of the picture. The flowers were filled in with golden colored thread. The design on either side of the seam in the middle is close to the same. There is a flower in the middle of both designs with six petals and a circle in the middle, all filled in with gold. Then, on one side of these flowers, there are three crescent shapes on one stip. On the other side, there are three crescent shapes with a filled in shape on top. All of these shapes are filled in with golden thread. At the bottom of the stems, there is a shape with three points, which is also present on either side and is also filled in with golden trim.

Cover, Pillow (2004.5.55.A)

Square decorative pillow cover. Multicolored floral design on beige background. Embroidery wool. The design consists of an orange, red, and pink flower in the middle with many small green lines coming off of it. This flower is surrounded by brown dots, which is then surrounded by a green vine, which has many different flowers on it. These flowers are mostly brown iwth pink centers and dark brown dots, blue with yellow lines coming off of them, pink with dark brown int the middle, a lighter pink with brown in the center and dark brown dots, and brown and pink striped flowers. At the bottom, there is a blue flower with dark brown coming out of it, and yellow at the base of the big central flower. In the corners of the embroidery, there are yellow flowers with grene stems. The edges of the pillowcase have red and pink flowers with green stems. It also has a green border. The back has a white tag with greek writing. It also reads "National Welfare Organization Athens" and "Hand Made in Greece"

Runner, Table (2004.8.1)

Rectangular table runner with lace edging, longer lace triangle at each side of the length. The lace trim is edged in pink as well as the string holding the lace to the actual runner. On the lace edging, on both ends of the runner, the lace is decorated with a large butterfly. Next to the pink stitches holding the lace to the runner, there are very small cut-out holes running along the long end of the runner, about an inch and a half from the length side it turns in, slightly scalloped inward. Running next to those small cut outs is a dark red stitching. About ten inches from each corner the red stitching turns upward into a wavy pattern then straightens back out. Sitting on the inside of the red line are blue and green sunburst/floral stitches. Mirrored on each side of the runner is an image of pink, peach, and blue flowers in a basket. The basket itself is lined in blue, and the base of the basket has panels of green perpendicular lines. The top portion is done in red, also with perpendicular lines. The handle of the basket is simply two parallel curved blue lines. There is a fair amount of yellow staining on one of the corners of the runner, spotted stains.

Tablecloth (2004.8.11)

A square crochet tablecloth. There is a checkerboard pattern which takes up the entire piece. In each corner, going about fifteen inches toward the center, on each square there is a green "X." The edges of the tablecloth are crocheted to imitate lace.

Tablecloth (2004.8.13)

White, linen square tablecloth. The trim is edged in a crotch pattern that is made to look like flowers: circular center with straight lines coming from it, which are connected to a thick/solid circular section that connects to the "petals" In the very center of the tablecloth is another crochet strip that is seen through and made by multiple small squares, some are solid squares to make a chevron line. The rest of the cloth is solid white minus each corner that is decorated with a multicolor embroidered flower. The center is created by three thin lines that make a circle and have the color pattern of yellow-green-yellow. The very center has a blue five-petaled flower and in between the thin lines is a dotted red line. Coming off of the outermost circle of the center are eight perpendicular yellow dotted lines (only one is actually touching, the others about half an inch away) Next to these lines are eight V-shaped green sections with yellow lines in between. The petal portion is done in red and is created by a scallop wave. Two yellow stems are coming off of the flosser with green outlined leaves with a blue center. At the very corner of the cloth, right under the flower is a three-leafed yellow stem; the leaves are green with a red center. The back side is plain other than the underside of the embroidery.

Pillowcase (2004.8.14)

Small square pillowcase. It is created with two pieces of fabric, which are sown together at each corner. The bottom layer is a light mustard yellow and has no decorative design. The top layer is white and scalloped on the trim. More towards the middle there is cutwork done. In the very center the cutwork is done to resemble a flower: having fifteen petals. About an inch from the middle, there are four V-shaped cutouts encircling the flower. On each of the points of the "V" there are five small holes; coming from the top of them are two curved cutouts and from the bottom another two, are smaller curved shapes. At the very top, is a design that appears to be half of a flower, one with five petals. In between each of the corners, there is another half-flower design.

Doily (2004.8.19.A.1)

A crochet doily made to look like a lacy design. The center portion is a larger square with multiple smaller squares in it. There are a few smaller squares that have three vertical lines within them; these squares are diagonal to others with similar designs making a cross. There are sixteen crosses in this center square. Coming off of the four sides there are larger triangles created by multiple smaller triangular shapes. The corners are rounded and created by intersecting curved lines.

Runner, Table (2004.8.3)

Oval-shaped table runner. The edges are trimmed in a scalloped lace and a mint color stitching attaches the lace to the runner. There is a mirrored image on each side of the runner. There are three leafs that are set apart to make a triangular shape. They are outlined and shaded in a mint green and have a yellow-colored string for the veins and stem. There are five flowers that surround the top leaf and one that sits under the right. The flowers are outlined and shaded in a light pink with five small yellow dots in the center. Bordering the picture and whole runner are two mint green dotted parallel lines with a solid yellow one in between. At the end of the runner above the mirrored images, the lines are scalloped and have a slight curl inward.

Runner, Table (2004.8.4)

Off-white with multicolor stitching table run. The entire runner is edged with lace and has mirrored images on each side. The center of the runner, on the edge, is decorated with a pink saucer shape, which has a crisscross pattern all over. On the inner point, there is a red flower. There is a red line coming off of the curved part of the saucer and moving towards the end of the runner. There is also a pink line parallel to it moving in the same direction. The red line stops about eight inches from the end, where it runs into a blue string which creates three half-oval shapes. Within the top of the ovals, there is another saucer shaper: the two ends have blue saucers and the middle has a red one. Also, the blue saucers have white flowers with a pink center. The red has a purple flower with a pink center. Directly above the blue stitching is an image of a bird (pink with a redhead) sitting on an island (purple and pink outlining). There is a tree at the top of the island which is outlined in white and has a few yellow lines to show the bark. The branches are in multiple colors: purple, blue, green, white, yellow, and cream. Sitting next to the tree is a flower which is outlined in green and each peddle is stitched with a different color: pink, red, yellow, purple, and white.

Pillowcase (2004.8.6)

Small white, handmade, pillowcase. The front side of the pillowcase has a floral cutwork design. The very center is a single flower that has a stem coming off of each side. The top and bottom stem is topped with a flower with a separate flower at their sides. On the side stems there is an array of multiple stems with leaves and a flower at the very top. Moving about half an inch from the middle pattern is another flower, in the middle of each of the four sides, and between each are multiple half-circle shaped, scattered in the middle. In the top corners of the pillow is yet another floral image, this being a flower on its own with three stems, all connected to a circle. The border is multiple cut-out circles. This decorative panel is the top flap to the pillowcase and there is an opening on the side to slide in the pillow. The back side is completely blank.

Pillowcase (2004.8.8.A)

Ivory pillowcase. Solid ivory minus about three inches from the opening there is an embroidered floral design. The embroidered designs are also ivory in color, so it looks like the pattern is rising from the background. The center of the design is a flower that appears to be sitting on a table. Flanking it are flowers, laying sideways with a steam coming from it. At the opening, there are two button closure holes and buttons on the inner flap.

Pillowcase (2004.8.9.A)

An off-white pillowcase. About two inches away from the edge of the pillow is a thick stitched line that works its way around the case. The stitching is navy, light blue, and white. In the pillow's corners within this blue line is a floral design: two stems, each with two flowers and leaves. On the back side of the case, there is that same multi-blue line, but instead of floral images in the center, the middle area is a mesh material with a slit opening for the pillow to get into.
