A large roll of paper. The paper is a Christmas-themed item covered in mistletoe and the words "Merry Christmas" and "New Year". Additionally, the roll has metal cups pressed into either end, presumably to be used as rolling points for when it is mounted and being used.

Mixer, Ice-cream (2011.7.29)

This is a aqua green, Hamilton Beach "Drinkmaster" mixer. it was probably used most as a milkshake mixer though other applications could have applied. The body of the machine is green while the head (where the motor is housed) is chrome finished. The entirety of the machine (besides the cord) is metal.

Wax Paper Roll (2011.7.27)

A large roll of paper and the spindle upon which is rests. The paper is a light greenish color with a faint pattern. The spindle for the roll is polished wood and besides being slightly worn (from rolling in the metal dispenser) at its ends is in normal condition.

Wrapper (2011.7.269)

This is a stack of 254 individual candy wrappers. Each wrapper consists of a small peice of wax paper and a peice of colored foil, with gold, pink or blue. Each is 3.5 in x 2.75 in.

Box, Candy (2011.7.268)

This is a medium-sized, red striped candy box. There is a large forest green bow attached to the top of the box. On top of the bow are gold, red and green leaves in a floral arrangement, with three small red berries in the center. Additionally, there is a hand written price tag of $3.45 taped to the bow. The inside of the box in lined in wax paper, with a floral design printed on it.

Razor (2011.7.266)

This is a straight-edge razor in a sheath. The razor folds into a plastic yellow handle peice, with intricate detailed carved into the surface. On the blade it says, "J. Wiss & Sons Newark, NJ." The razor is placed in a cardboard sheath, with is then placed into a two part additional sheath. Most of the lettering has been worn or peeled off, but it reads "Lion Brand."

Ring (2011.7.265)

This is a silver (?) Masonic ring that belonged to Alex Rassogianis. The sides of the ring are engraved with detail and the face of the ring has three letters of some kind engraved into its surface.

Paper Dispenser (2011.7.26)

A two-legged, black and red wax paper roll holder. The item has no determinable maker but does have "CMC" printed down the sides of its two legs.

Key (2011.7.254)

This is a silver key from Alex's Candy Shop. The key is more of a modern shape and size. The head of the key is bordered by decorative dots. On one side of the head is the word "Barrows" and on the other, "431472." There is a yellow and red ribbon tied to the head of the key. "Alex's Candy Shop" is printed on the ribbon in addition to its address. There is a small peice of paper attached to the ribbon, as well.

Key (2011.7.253)

This is an old fashioned, silver key possibly from the St. Louis Candy Shop location. The key is rusting in a number of places. At the head, enscribed into the metal is "Gorbin." There is a black string tied to the head of the key.

Sign, Trade (2011.7.238)

This is a large, rectangular Coca-Cola sign. It is predominantly green with red and yellow accents. At the top is written, in yellow, "Fountain Service." In the middle is a large red box with "Drink Coca Cola" written largely in white in a script font and "Delicious and Refreshing" printed below that.

Bag, Pastry (2011.7.235)

This is a folded pastry bag in its original wax paper packaging. The packaging is a brownish-yellow wax paper, significantly ripped in many places. The label on the packaging has the brand, "Ateco," printed in the top left corner of the label. On the right it says, "Double Seamed" with "Pastry Bag, size 18" printed in the center label, and "with rustproof eyelets" printed below it. The pastry bag itself is 18 inches long by 12 inches wide. On the bottom of the label is small text and information about obtaining this pastry bag from Ateco. It reads "Double seaming makes them better than ordinary bags. Ask your supply house for genuine Ateco Pastry Bags."

This is a medium sized pastry bag. Is is "V" shaped with a metal grommet in the top left and openings at both ends. The bag is an off-white canvas cloth material.There is a seam along the side with the metal circle in it, as well as seams at the top and bottom.

Stand, Book (2011.7.215)

This stand is made of a light metal. The bottom of the piece has two lips that go upwards on the sides. In between these lips there is a rippling in the metal for another piece to lock into in order to hold the object. Next to the wave constructionthe metal curves up in a loop to act as a joint for the other piece. The square metal piece that the bottom is connected to is completely flat except for a loop joint about halfway up it. This connects to the stand mechanism that fits into the base. The middle piece is what the object leans against. The metal is a little tarnished, but it still moves easily.

Dish, Sauce (2011.7.210)

This metal sauce dish is circular except for a lip on one of the edges which has a flat end. On the inside of the dish, on the side with the lip there are little protrusions which make a smiley face in the metal. The metal itself is silver and somewhat thin. At the top of the dish the metal curves out to make a little lip. There is a simple base that just supports the whole container. The condition is quite rusted and eroding so the silver color is darker now.

Candy Mold (2011.7.21)

This is a large, metal mold of a bunny. It is actually two metal sides of a bunny which are clamped together by small metal clips.

Pan, Baking (2011.7.209)

This is a smaller sized baking pan with lipped edges along all four sides. The pan is also quite rusty in many areas because it is made of metal, most likely tin. None of the rust spots have eaten all the way through the pan but on the bottom of the pan they are deeper than the ones on the inside. The rust is an orange color with a black outline in certain places. In the pan's basin there are three circular spots that have rust in the center but are brighter silver on the outsides of the spots. The rest of the pan is a darker silver color but the worn away areas are highly contrasted in comparison. The bottom is slightly worn, but not as bad as the top. There are rough patches and rust as well as dirt on the edges of the pan.

Opener, Bottle (2011.7.207)

This bottle opener is made of a heavy, solid metal and has a 45 degree bend about halfway down its length. The metal itself is a dark silver but due to rust and age it has become darker and more brown in some areas. The object is entirely smooth. The handle is rounded for an easier grip and it has a serial number imprinted on it which reads "9993416" with a circle after the last number. The bend in the metal is not as wide or large as the handle. It has extra supports on the sides which are a little thinner that the main piece of metal it is made of. This stem is connected to the actual opener component. The opener is completely flat and boxy on the longer end except for the very tip wich is curved down to provide a clamp. The little piece is not as long as the clamp side and is completely flat on the edge that's closer to the other protrusion, yet rounded on the opposite side. The entire thing is plain with no color or ornamentation.

Opener, Bottle (2011.7.206)

This bottle opener is made of a heavy, solid metal and has a 45 degree bend about halfway down its length. The metal itself is a dark silver but due to rust and age it has become darker and more brown in some areas. The object is entirely smooth. There is a little shape carved into the rounded side of the handle that is probably a maker's mark symbol but it is somewhat hard to make out.

Set, Salt & Pepper (2011.7.205)

This is a simple sugar shaker made out of a thin and cheaper silver metal. It has a circular perforated top that can unscrew to open. The top is dented a little but still intact. There are a few rivets for the twist off feature on the sides of the shaker. The lower sides and bottom are completely plain. There is a handle made of the same material that is attached with little studs. The metal is dirty and a little pitted from use and age.

Set, Salt & Pepper (2011.7.201)

This is a pepper shaker made out of white milkglass and a metal lid. The glass itself is in a rectangular shape and has ridges on the flat edges because the corners are rounded. The ridges provide grip and more dimension to the functional aspects of the object. On one of the sides there is a diagonal strip where the ridges are flat so a label can be attached. It once said pepper but now only "pepp" is visible because the end is no longer attached. The label is silver and embossed to spell the word. It also has a border around the edges that is just a simple geometric square border. The cap is a silver metal that screws onto the bottle by spiral ridges. On the top there are holes for the pepper to come out. Due to age and wear there are also some stains and rust on the top and in the grooves on the sides.

Scoop, Ice-cream (2011.7.198)

This ice cream scoop is made of metal and wood. The handle is the wooden part and is made of a smooth black wood with a ridge near the top of the wooden piece for an easier grip. There is a gold attachment that connects the wood to the rest of the scoop and it is perfectly round. The metal of the actual scoop part is silver and very smooth. There is some tarnish from being used, but it could still be used easily in the state it is in. The scoop's shape is somewhat rectangular and one of the sides is bent in a little. This is because of an indentation into the metal to label the makers of the scoop. This mark has words inside a small circle which say "Wagner MFG. Co. Sidney.O," with the "MFG Co" in a smaller font than the rest. This indentation is the only marking of decoration on the piece.

Stick, Mixing (2011.7.194)

This is a small, short and largely unimpressionable stick that may have been used for mixing. It has no apparent details other than that on one end it has a small hole through which is looped a metal hanger and the other has been or worn to a dull point. The wood is a light color and has darker spots from dirt and wear.

Plaque (2011.7.187)

This is a rectangular wooden plaque with a top of a candy box cover mounted on the front. The cover is a blueish hue because it was attached with a wood stain which changed its color. The top has a grid-like patterning in the background covering the whole thing. It also has a decorative, dark blue border made of squares, within other squares. Centered in the middle is written "Alex's Sweet Shop" in bold dark blue type, with "Homemade Candies and Delicious Ice Cream" printed slightly smaller in the same color and font directly below the first phrase. Along the bottom left corner, it reads,"Net weight two pounds," centered along the bottom is "Phone Berwyn 6782," and printed in the bottom right corner "6823 Roosvelt Rd Berwyn, ILL" is printed. The top iteslf has been ripped from the box so its edges are uneven. On the back, written in pen, centered horizantally is written "This is the top of the cover of candy boxes used by Alex's Sweet Shop on 6823 W. Roosevelt Rd Berwyn, ILL on the 1930's." Along the left edge of the wood "12-B" is written in pencil. There is no known meaning for the number. The wood is fairly clean, there are some green stains in various areas such as right below the main writing and in the right lower corner. Above the writing a circular metal hanger is attached with a bent nail to the center of the plaque. Along the top of the plaque there is a brass, circlular piece of metal attached which stands straight up into the air so the object can be hung.

The rabbit is standing on its hind legs, with grass below it. The strap of its basket goes around its front legs. The basket appears to be an easter egg in a sack. There are four concave circles on one side and a corresponding four convex circles on the other side.

Holder, Thread (2011.7.135)

This item is a string dispenser used for when wrapping chocolate boxes or any packages at the shop. It has a green base from which rises three arms. The fist two of these come to an equal height and hold between them a spool of string. The last arm rise up higher and has a notch to slip string into. At the bottom of this notch is a razor to cut the string. There are two holes on the bottom to attach to a countertop. In between the holes, there are instructions "For Best Service." The front is labelled with "Chicago Printed String Co." on a red plaque. There is a spool on the spool holder, also labelled with "Chicago Printed String Co." The inside of the spook is made of cardboard, whild the rims are metal.

Mold, Candy (2011.7.134)

This small cake or cookie mold is made of metal, probably tin, and is silver in color except for spots where rust has formed. The design looks like a type of flower. At the base there is a flower with 6 petals and then further designs branch out from it that could be more petals. The lip at the top is a little extended so it's easier to either attach to another piece or just hold. It is dented in different places from age a wear. The back and raised side has become really corroded and rusty giving it a brown color. The metal also flakes off a little because of the corrosion, although the back is not completely covered, it is mostly covered.

Mold, Candy (2011.7.133a)

This is a rabbit shaped mold, most likely used to make chocolate rabbits. The entire mold is made of metal and is shaped to fit the rabbit's body and pose. The block of metal is curved until the bottom half of the rabbit's body where it descends straight. This is the back of the figure and so the circles that become the connectors to the other piece which are indented. The back of the mold is where the shape of the figure is visible. The is dressed in a dress and is holding an umbrella which is pointed down on the ground. She is standing on a little outcropping of rocks and strapped to her backis a wicker basket. The hand that is not holding the umbrells is resting on her hip. The metal is a little rusted and corroded in different areas, mostly on the inside because of its use.

Mold, Candy (2011.7.132a)

This is the bottom half of a pumpkin shaped mold. The entire thing is made out of metal, most likely tin. The flat area, which would connect to the other half of the mold is an octagonal shape, but four of the sides are longer than the corner sides. On the shorter sides there are four circular indentations that are used to help connect the two sides together. Looking at the flat side the base of the pumpkin shape goes down into the metal with grooves and veins that pumpkins have. On the opposite side both the circles and the pumpkin shape are protruding. The metal is heavily tarnished and a darker silver color that the other side of it. The edges of the flat part are also quite tarished from use and storage.

Mold, Candy (2011.7.131)

This mold is for a full form once the cake or candy would have been done. The mold itself has a pumpkin shape in the center and protruding from that are flat sides making an octoganal shape, but with the square sides being larger. On those longer sides there are claps to hold the mold together. On the short sides there are little hole indentations, or protusions based on the side, that help the mold fit together. The entire thing is made of metal but is corroding so the color is a darker silver and little bits of metal and dirt fall off when handled.

The bottom lip of the mold extends a little from the form itself and provides a little lip which can be used to hold onto. The interior of the mold has some corrosion, most likely from rust and age, but it has not eaten through the metal. In other areas there is rust, but not in any pattern and in varying degrees.

This larger cake mold is in the shape of a sunflower. On the interior there is the anther, or center of the flower, and to make it there are little circles in a grid-like pattern. Extending from the anther are the petals which extend all the way to the very edge of the mold. On the sides of the mold the effect is a scalloped design with round curves. On the exterior of the petals at the very edge there is a little lip where the metal was bent outward a little to create the edge. The entire this is made of metal, most likely tin, and is silver in color. In most of the creases or protrusions the color is a darker silver due to wear and rubbing on things. There are some areas with rust , mostly in the petal indentations on the interior. The base also has quite a bit of rust from sitting on things. The petals on the sides on the outside of the tin are also darker having corroded away from handling, but most have not begun rusting yet.

A metal mold used for making heart-shaped candies. This was probably often used for chocolates. There is a lip along the top of the mold, and the right side comes down slightly at the top where it was welded together.

Mold, Candy (2011.7.120)

A metal mold used for making pineapple-shaped candies. This was probably often used for chocolates. Along the top, it has the number 252. There is a tab on either side of the pineapple for opening it. The hinge is on the other side. The inside of the mold is extremely shiny.

Mold, Candy (2011.7.119)

This is a metal mold used for making elephant-shaped candies or chocolate. This mold has both sides and are attached. They can be seperated but the metal flap that connects them is very tight and stuck in place. The whole thing is made of a silver metal that has been tarnished over the years. Each of the sides has the elephant shape and an outer lining for the connector to attach. The lining is where the metal is flat and lies directly against the opposite side. On one side there are two small circular indentations to also help attach it to the other piece to create the full elephant shape. There are also two numbers. Imprinted vertically by the trunk is "2308" and horizantal by the tail is "22." The elephant itself is somewhat small. The two legs are close together and the tail tucks down. The ear protrudes out futher than the rest of the body and has rounded edges. One eye is visible and just a small indentation. The trunk curves up under the neck touching it and there is a small tusk that does not extend past the trunk. The metal on this side is tarnished, although not as bad as the other side. The opposite side of the elephant is basically the same thing just reversed. The circles connecting the sides are protruding and underneath the connector is another one. The elephant is facing the opposite way and the "22" is still near the rear. There is some writing near its head but its been worn away a little bit so it is hard to make out. This side of the mold is darker and much more tarnished than its opposite. The bottom of the mold where the feet are is hollow and open to the interior.

A metal mold used for making clover-shaped candies. This was probably often used for chocolates. It is a three-leaved clover. The front has the number 1039 while the back reads "E&Co. N.Y. 1039." There is a hinge on the right side and two tabs for opening the mold on the left. The inside is rather shiny. The back of the mold is completely blank, while the front contains details for the rront of a leaf, such as the veins.

A metal mold used for making lamb-shaped candies. This was probably often used for chocolates.

A large, clear glass candy jar. The lid is easily liftable and made of a light metal, probably aluminum.
