Crushed velvet apron in a green/gold color trimmed with lace. Apron has some staining on right corner edges. According to the donor, this item dates back to the early 20th century, with the outer lace likely being a later addition to the garment. The lace on the center of the apron appears to be much older.
This heavy wool vest was worn by the donor along with the bodice and apron from the same accession. Individually, the pieces are likely from different time periods. This vest is in very good condition and was hand sewn. Strings were added at some point during the vest's lifetime to keep the vest tied together in front. A pocket was also added on the inner left side of the vest. There is some staining on the interior pocket as well as the outer bottom right side of the vest with minor foxing throughout the inside of the vest.
This bodice originally came from around the area of Thebes, Greece. It is made of a gold colored velvet with added lace on the sleeves and muslin added to the back of the garment. It is likely that the bodice was re-made at least once to fit a larger frame. While the velvet portion dates to the early 1900s, the lace additions are likely from the late 1900s. The bodice clasps in front with metal fasteners. There is some staining on the lace sleeves.
