Object Description
Large white bag with printing in the two lower corners. In the bottom left corner, there is a red and blue emblem in the shape of a square. Making up the square are three designs of lines - one that is a solid navy blue, one that is red and white striped, and one that is white with blue stars. In the middle of the square, it reads, "American Bicentennial 1776-1976". In the bottom right corner, there are multiple printings. Starting at the top, is the emblem for AHEPA - it is a blue and white circular figure, with blue stars on the sides, and an eagle, olive branch, and a sunrise in the middle. On the top and bottom are the words, "Order of AHEPA". Below that emblem, still on the right hand lower side, is the following text written in blue, "54th Supreme Convention, Order of AHEPA, August 15-21, 1976, Houston, Texas". And right below that text is more text in red. It reads as follows, "Compliments of AB Atlantic Bank of New York". The bag has three folds at the bottom to allow extra space within the bag and it has a front facing, clear zipper at the very top of the bag.
Origin
The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) is the largest and oldest American-based, Greek heritage grassroots membership organization. Its scope is international with chapters in the United States, Canada, Greece, and Cyprus, and "sister" chapters in Australia and New Zealand under the auspices of AHEPA Australasia.

AHEPA was founded on July 26, 1922 in response to the evils of bigotry and racism that emerged in early 20th century American society. It also helped Greek immigrants assimilate into society.

Today, AHEPA brings the ideals of ancient Greece, which includes philanthropy, education, civic responsibility, and family and individual excellence to the community.

Although a majority of the membership is composed of Americans of Greek descent, application for membership is open to anyone who believes in the mission of the organization.

The AHEPA Family Supreme Convention is held annually for the purpose of setting policy and electing officers.
