Object Description
This is a black cigarette box with gold colored edging and lettering. The lettering on the top says, in English, "Hellas Special" and "Papastrados-Athens". On both small sides of the box is the inscription, in English, saying "Hellas Special 20 Cigarettes". On the back of the box is the Greek meander pattern in gold against a black background. On the front side of the box, it says "Drachm. 12". On the top of the box, there is a simple picture of a Greek column supporting a building and a basic outline of the sea and either the sun or the moon.
Origin
The cigarette box was donated by Pete Poulos from Missoula, Montana. The Hellas Special brand was maufactured by Papastrados Cigarette Manufacturing Co. SA. The Hellas Special brand has stopped being manufactured since 1986.
