Object Description
Rectangular wooden frame trimmed with a band of metallic gold that runs around the top surface of all four sides.  There is no glass. The background is covered in blue felt. There are 4 engraved brass plates, and two vials with soil samples in them mounted on the blue felt. The top plate is the biggest, taking up almost 1/3 of the frame.  It describes who what when where and why Olympia is getting the award. There is a small singular plate centered immediately beneath the larger, then  two even smaller plates arranged side by side beneath that one.  The side by side plates offer origin of the vialed soil samples which are mounted beneath them respectively.
Origin
Donated by Olympia Dukakis. The award was given to her on November 11, 1995 for her talents in the entertainment industry. The award was given to her by the United Hellenic American Congress.
