Origin
Peter Calaboyias is one of Greece's preeminent modern painters. His art (both painting and sculture work) are displayed in galleries and museums, including an exhibit in the National Hellenic Museum in 2010.

This particular piece was created by Mr. Calaboyias on the island of Ikaria where he lives in the summer when he isn't in residence in Pittsburgh as a professor. It is from his "Harbor Series". It was originally donated to the Museum to be sold during the silent auction at the 2010 Annual Fall Gala. When the item didn't sell, it was donated by Mr. Calaboyais to the Museum's permanent collection.
