Object Description
The hand-made doll is a boy and has a red hat with a black tassel off the left side. He has brown hair and a rosey face. He has a white long sleeve shirt on made of a light fabric and a small blue fabric as a belt. The shirt has a collar with a button on the top and he is wearing a tan colored vest over the shirt. The vest is outlined in a gold ribbon and has straight gold lines that go up the vest and then curve back down at the shoulder. There is four beads, two on each side, of the vest . He is wearing a white skirt, in the same fabric as the shirt, that goes to his knees. Just under his knees he has brown string wrapped around each of his legs several times with a tassel on each leg as well. He has red shoes made of cloth with a blue and white ball of fuzz on each shoe. His arms are a pink color and the legs are a white color.
Origin
Ethel Anton-Heckel's mother Dina and father Mike Kopetas immigrated from Tripoli, Greece to the United States in 1932-33 where they then lived in Quincy. The dolls came from Greece by Ethel's uncle Peter Kopetas. The dolls were made before 1933 and most likely in Athens.
