Object Description
The hand-made doll is a girl and has a biege colored scarf wrapped around her head and it has a few sequins on it with a lace fabric along the edges. The doll has brown hair, rosey face, and a scuff mark on her nose and upper lip. The coat is white with red fabric outlining it and a designed material that runs down the side and along the bottom. The bottom of the sleeve is a blue fabric with a tinsel that seperates it from the white part of the coat. There are four sequins on the front of the coat, two on each side. The top part of the dress is red fabric and the bottom is white with about an inch of red fabric towards the bottom of the skirt and then half an inch of white fabric at the very bottom. The red part has a cloud design on the back and a branch and leaf on the front. From the waist to just above the red part of the skirt there is a small lighter fabric material with three flowers made from red and brown sequins. The doll has black paper shoes and her arms and legs are a pink colored fabric.
Origin
Ethel Anton-Heckel's mother Dina and father Mike Kopetas immigrated from Tripoli, Greece to the United States in 1932-33 where they then lived in Quincy. The dolls came from Greece by Ethel's uncle Peter Kopetas. The dolls were made before 1933 and most likely in Athens.
