Object Description
Iconostasis, a portable icon stand. Wooden case with hinged door with glass front. Hinged "door" with knob handle on bottom. Painted gold cross on top center. Carved wood decorative top with painted red accent, gold decorative line around glass door and bottom door.
Origin
In Eastern Christanity, a iconostasion is a wall of iconic paintings that separates the church nave from the sanctuary. In the case of this portable iconostasion or "home altar," a family can house or display an icon of household worship.
