Object Description
Black tassle with two black rope loops and elastic circle. These tassles are worn under the knee cap, over leggings, 2009.8.1.5.A-B, with the tassle facing outward.
Origin
Makedonomachos , Macedonian Freedom Fighter, uniform. Collected by Maria Fakonas, to honor Pavlos Melas (3/29/1870-10/13/1904), an officer in the Hellenic Army, he was among the first who organized and participated in the Greek Struggle for Macedonia. Maria's father Demetrios G. Karageorgis left America to return to Greece in 1912 to fight for the freedom of Epirus and Macedonia.
