Object Description
Black leather belt with two removable rectangular pouches. Reverse has text in Greek written with ink. Belt does not have belt holes and was worn with military jacket, 2009.8.1.2
Makedonomachos , Macedonian Freedom Fighter, uniform. Collected by Maria Fakonas, to honor Pavlos Melas (3/29/1870-10/13/1904), an officer in the Hellenic Army, he was among the first who organized and participated in the Greek Struggle for Macedonia. Maria's father Demetrios G. Karageorgis left America to return to Greece in 1912 to fight for the freedom of Epirus and Macedonia.
