Object Description
This is a black and white print of two human figures laying on the ground. One figure is entering from the left and only its torso up is visible. On the right side of the piece are what appear to be the legs of the second figure. The figure on the left has one arm raised above the head and the other resting on the forehead. The piece is matted on a white background in a simple black frame..
Origin
16/20 "Loss" dated 2004, Woodblock print. Donated by the artist, Diane Thodos.
Her work reflects the turbulance of war. Without directly naming the origin of contemporary traumas such as, 9-11, terrorism, or the war in Iraq, she attempts to essentialize emotional states in graphic form in order to grasp their universal and often tragic significance. Inspired by Modernism. Her work is represented on an international basis by the Paule Friedland and Alex Rivault Gallery in Paris, the Traeger Pinto Gallery in Mexico City, and the Thomas Masters Gallery in Chicago.
