Object Description
Silver oval-shaped wedding tray. The inside of the tray is engraved with flowers that have interlocking vines and leaves, all of which are filled in with lines running along their length. The rim of the tray has oval-shaped ridges along it. There is a handle on either side of the tray. Where the handles connect to the tray, the handles are tassel-shaped. In the middle of the handles, there is an oval between two more tassel-shaped ends.
Origin
Tray is from the marriage of Penelope and John Mantelos on July 17, 1927. In the marriage ceremony, a tray is used to hold the stefanas, rice, and sugar coated almonds on the altar table.

Penelope Mantelos was born in Agrilovounon, Messinias Greece on September 14 of 1899. She died at the age of 107 in Chicago. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society at the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
