Object Description
Medium-sized globular bodied amphora with two handles. Seems to be both poorly preserved and not very well crafted. Possibly Black Slip ware with white paint or Bichrome ware suffering from poor firing (which causes the blackish exterior). While most of the painteed designs on the body have not survived, the rim and neck designs are still distinguishable. Most of the body suffers from limestone erosion.

The fabric is coarse and shell-tempered, indicating amore industrial or domestic purpose- maybe it is kitchen-ware.

There is a recent crack on the body of the vessel, directly below the handle. it is also visible when looking inside the body of the vessel.

May or may not be wheelmade. There may or may not be faint white X markes on the body.

Overall, not a great object..
Origin
Unknown. Completely. Object was found in the collection with no paperwork assigned to it.
