Object Description
A painted icon of St. Trifon, standing outside, holding a cross and hammer. The following names are inscribed at the bottom of the artifact: Petros Athanasopoulos, Vasilios Andreas Kardara (Pyogou Ileias), Nikolaos P. Katsigeras (Cephalonia) and Andrianoi Karvelas, Iconographer, 1919.
Origin
This artifact on canvas came to the NHM by initally being lent for an exhibition in 1992. It was later donated, but there is not paper documents located to prove this was in fact , an agreed upon donation. A later note dated 9/15/08 indicates it was donated by Fr. Theodore Poteras.

St. Trifon, known as the "pruner" and patron St. of winemakers and vinegrowers.; which may explain the harvesters reaper in his left hand. Additionally, if you are not Bulgarian, you know him as St. Valentine.
