Object Description
Mustard vest with peach scalloped edging at arms, hems, and front, as well as up the sides. Cutwork with embroidery at both lapels and bottom hems.The vest is completely open at the front. The nect is in the shape of a V. The cutwork is also done in peach and takes the form of flowers. Eache lapel has a downward facing flower with a stem with five leaves and three dots. There are patterns of cutwork coming off the stem, though the leaves are embroidered in peach. Along the bottom hems, the cutwork also takes the form of flowers. These flowers are facing upward with cutwork stems and cutwork above them. The leaves are still done in peach embroidery.
Origin
Anna K. Keramianakis was born October 26, 1904 and died October 16, 1984. She lived in Spilia, Crete. Her father sold olives in the city of Chania. anna and her mother and sisters raised silkworms and sold their thread. Anna's aunts arranged an engagement for her. She married Kyriakos V. Petrakis on July 28, 1926. On august 15, 1926, they left Crete for Athens. On September 2, 1926 they left for America on board the "Avera". On October 5, 1926, they arrived at Ellis Island, New York.
