Object Description
A burgundy and off-white woven blanket. The white parts are made with thin, white, cotton thread, while the red parts are made with thicker, burgundy, wool thread. The threads are woven into a pattern of equal-armed crosses, patterned in a way so that they go across the blanket length-wise, width-wise, and diagonally.
Origin
This blanket, along with the other textiles in the donation, was presented to Frank N. Frangos in 1949 in Kontreva in appreciation of his support of the village. Kontreva is a village near Tripoli, Arcadia, in the Peloponnese region. Frank was born in 1908, and immigrated to the United States in 1922. An equal-armed cross, as seen on this blanket, is also known as Greek Cross.
