Object Description
Ivory pillow case. Solid ivory minus about three inches from the openning there is an embroidered floral design. It is also ivory so looks the pattern is rising from the background. The center of the design is of a flower which appeara to be sitting upon a table. Flanking it are flowers, laying sideways with a steam coming from it. At the opening there are two button closure holes, buttons on the inner flap.
Origin
Created by Penolope Neokos. She was born in Greece in 1899. In later years she came to the United States with her husband Nickolas, also native to Greece, where they became citizens of Illinois and lived in the city of Chicago. While in Chicago her and her husband lived with her brother along with her two sons (Ernie and John) and their one daughter (Frances).
This was a handmade piece made by Penolope in Greece so may have been a part of her dowry when marring Nickolas.
