Object Description
A square crochet tablecloth. There is a checkerboard pattern which takes up the entire piece. In each corner, going about fifteen inches toward the center, on each square there is a green "X." The edges of the tablecloth are crocheted to imitate lace.
Origin
Created by Penolope Neokos. She was born in Greece in 1899. In later years she came to the United States with her husband Nickolas, also native to Greece, where they became citizens of Illinois and lived in the city of Chicago. While in Chicago she and her husband lived with her brother, her two sons (Ernie and John), and their one daughter (Frances).
Since the tablecloth is made in Greece, this could have been a part of her dowry before she married Nickolas and was brought over with them during their move to America.
