Object Description
Runner with horizontal stripes, which are mainly red in color with orange, green, yellow, pink, and purple in the middle. These red stripes with colors in the middle alternate with plain white stripes. After five rows of red stripes, there is an hourglass-shaped design of blue, red, green, pink, purple, and orange. In the space between the hourglasses, there is a diamond made of the same colors. The long side of the runner has fringes on one side of orange, blue, yellow, pink, green, and red. The hourglass design changes to an arrow design, which is followed by an hourglass design with bigger diamonds in the middle, which in turn is followed by the arrow design, and then returns to the hourglass design with the small diamonds. The main color of the stripes goes from red to multi-colored, and a design featuring two colors crossing to form an X with dots in between also makes an appearance, along with a triangle design.
Origin
Runners are used in hallways and stairs to protect the floor. Hand-woven objects such as this were woven on a loom. They were sometimes used as a part of a woman's dowry.
