A grateful community presents this plaque and gavel to Arthur H. Peponis. President of the Board of Trustees 1934-1938; 1941-1943. 'Well done good and faithful servant' Matthew 25.21"
Origin
Annunciation Cathedral: the oldest church edifice built specifically as a Greek Orthodox Church in Chicago. Established by the Greek Orthodox community in the city in 1892, the church was built on its present site in 1910 and faithfully models the Byzantine-Renaissance style of architecture. It serves as the seat of the Metropolitan of Chicago.
