Object Description
Men's medium-blue, wool wrestling briefs. The inside says "Lowe and Campbell Athletic Goods" and are a size 26.
Origin
Jim Londos was known as "The Golden Greek." His original name was Christopher Theophelus. He was a professional wrestler during the Great Depression. He was born in Argos, Greece in the 1890s and was the youngest of thirteen children. He ran away from home at the age of thirteen and ended up emigrating to the United States. He was known for capitalizing on his good looks by matching himself against the ugliest opponents he could find. At the time, it was common practice for the matches to be fixed instead of legitimate, so wrestlers were seen as performers as much as they were as atheletes. During his prime, he would wrestle as many as four or five matches a week. After retiring, he worked on numerous charities, including one to help World War II orphans.
