Object Description
One of two pink hand knit baby booties with puff balls on the laces. The pink yarn has a white thread going through it. The top of the bootee is slightly scalloped. The bootee has a piece of yarn the came color as the rest weaving in and out of knitted columns in the bootee to form a lace. The yarn is tied in a bow in the front. This is a part of a corresponding outfit (2005.5.10).
Origin
This was knitted by the donor, Theodora Hadzisteliou Price in the early 1970s, while pregnant with her first son. She quit teaching and research in Archaeology and did fulltime preparation for motherhood. She had left Greece in 1962 for graduate studies in England, after which she worked for a bit in the University of Sydney, Australia, and then migrated to America in 1967 to New York, after which she came to chicago in 1968 and taught Greek Art and Archaeology at the University of Chicago.
