Framed and matted color artwork on scratchboard of a winged spirit diving into water against a background of the sun and three doves.
The frame is mostly black with metal embellishment on the outside corners and silver rivets along the inside edges of the frame.
This peice was donated by the Artisit, Evangelia Philippidis, and on display in the National Hellenic Museum in 2005. It was donated along with 4 other original peices.
Evangelia Philippidis was born and raised in Athens, Greece, until the age of 9, when she immigrated to the United States. As a child, she remembers running up the acropolis, and appreciating the artwork. She moved to a small town in Ohio, where she had a very different life. She found the most profound influence on her work in Meteroa, in Central Greece. Here, she encountered the iconic style of art.
