Object Description
Wooden ice skate with detachable blade. The skate itself rises only to the toe, not any longer, and ends in the middle of the heel. The wooden "boot" is fish-shaped.
Origin
Used on farm by Theodore Barbatsuly or his brothers.

Around the 14th Century, the Dutch started using wooden platform skates with flat iron bottom runners. The skates were attached to the skater's shoes with leather straps. Poles were used to propel the skater. Around 1500, the Dutch added a narrow metal double edged blade, making the poles a thing of the past, as the skater could now push and glide with his feet (called the "Dutch Roll").

Skates like these were present anywhere from 1500's to the early 1900's, but due to the history of Theodore Barbatsuly these were probably around the early 1900's
