Object Description
Cream-colored hand-crocheted drawstring purse.   The drawstrings near the top create a soft ruffling effect and have three large crocheted almond shaped drops dangling from the strings on each side.

Four square panels of delicate, intricately crocheted background provide support for three-dimensional crocheted roses with one large crocheted almond shaped drop dangling from each rose's center.   They are connected at the edges, forming a beautiful semi sheer overlay for the cream-colored silk purse underneath.  There is a rose at the center where the corners of all four squares meet, and one decorative almond shaped drop on each outside edge where the top and bottom squares meet.

At the bottom, three clusters of those almond shaped drops embellish the center and each corner; each cluster containing three drops.
Origin
"Purse" originally referred to a small bag used for holding coins, while "Handbag" would refer to a bigger bag used to hold a woman's personal items.
