Origin
Donated by Thianda Manzara, daughter of Demetra Louvrie (1931-2001). Louvrie was first introduced to Karagiozi by her great-uncle John Katses, who performed throughout Chicago. She first learned from George Kefalopulos, who had a Greek radio program. Louvrie then trained professionally with master artist Frixos Gazepidis, studying all aspects of Karagiozi from 1984-1988. She performed, taught classes and workshops and exhibited work in the 80s, 90s, and 00s.
